Import notes for Bahamas
Before you buy
- Vehicles must not be older than 10 years, counted from the date of manufacture. An older vehicle needs prior approval from the Ministry of Finance and pays an environmental levy of 20% of the landed cost.
- Vehicles with a certificate of destruction, or a salvage or non-rebuildable title, cannot be imported.
At the port
- Every shipment needs a proper invoice from the supplier: the official invoice from BE FORWARD.
- Duty depends on the vehicle (type, value, fuel). Bahamas Customs publishes the rates in its tariff. Ask your customs broker for the full cost of the exact car before you accept a quotation.
