Import notes for Guyana
Before you buy
- There is no age limit on used cars since 1 October 2020 (Guyana Revenue Authority).
- Guyana drives on the left, so choose a right-hand drive car.
At the port
- The import is declared through ASYCUDA World, and duties and taxes are paid electronically.
- The shipping documents must show the chassis (VIN) number, engine number, make, year and colour. Missing details delay clearance and registration by the Licence Revenue Office.
- Older and larger cars usually pay more tax. Ask your customs broker for the full cost of the exact car before you accept a quotation.
Documents to keep
- The official invoice from BE FORWARD, the bill of lading and the export certificate.
*Checked on 28 October 2026 against the Guyana Revenue Authority.*
Import rules change. Always confirm the current rules with your local authorities or clearing agent before you buy.
